Before You Arrive – Your Admission Counselor will explain how to obtain access to your Oglethorpe email and what forms need to be filled out. First-years are expected to utilize their Oglethorpe email accounts and to check their e-mail daily since this is the primary way the University conducts its business with students.
Welcome Weekend – Directly after first-year move-in, the 3-day Welcome Weekend introduces our newest members of the community to those Oglethorpe University traditions which are central to the University. The Honor system, educational and social events, student organizations and meeting fellow classmates are just a few of the many highlights of the Welcome Weekend program.
Enrollment Services – The HUB for Enrollment Services is your one-stop shop for all enrollment matters, including financial aid, billing, registration and academic records. Here you can apply for aid, browse scholarships, pay your bill, request a transcript and more. You’ll find it all in the garden level (basement) of Lupton Hall.
First-Year Housing – All first-year students at Oglethorpe University live in on-campus housing. The first-year residence halls are each supervised by a Resident Assistant who is a trained, upper-classmen student, capable of giving sympathetic and informed guidance.
Academic Success – A hallmark of the University is the close interaction between students and faculty both in and outside the classroom. This relationship forms the foundation for your academic success. You should plan to meet with both your first-year Compass Advisor and other faculty with whom you connect to discuss your academic goals, as well as questions and concerns you may have. For more information about first-year Compass Advising, please visit our Compass site.
Getting Involved – There are so many ways to get involved on campus during your first year, and one of the best ways is to take advantage of all the activities going on every day of the first week of classes!
Dining Services – Dining Services invites you to experience a variety of campus food service selections. They happily accommodate the various dining needs of our students, faculty and staff. The team is committed to serving nutritious meals and offering a high standard of service to the campus community.
Career Development – Career Development staff will provide you with the resources and guidance needed to assess your interests and values, recognize and use your skills and talents, promote the strengths of your liberal arts education, and develop and implement your academic or career plans.
Campus Safety – Keeping Oglethorpe University students, employees and visitors secure and safe is a primary concern. To accomplish this requires not just the efforts of members of the Campus Safety Department, but the cooperation, understanding and support of every member of our community. We cannot maintain a safe environment alone. We need your help by doing everything you can to assist us with safety and security issues.
Accessibility Services – It is the policy of Oglethorpe University to provide equal access to educational opportunities to qualified students with physical or mental disabilities, in accordance with Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and the Americans with Disabilities Act.
Counseling Center – Oglethorpe University is committed to the development of the whole person, therefore a highly trained and experienced counseling staff is available to help students with a variety of difficulties that might impact not only a student’s academic work, but overall sense of well-being.
Department Directory – At Oglethorpe University, most students will easily get to know the Vice President for Student Affairs and Dean of Students and staff within the Department of Campus Life. There are many other departments whose goal it is to serve new students.
Visiting Atlanta – Campus is so much more than gray stone and mortar (though we have plenty of that too). Come visit campus and let us show you all the aspects of campus life that make our students call Oglethorpe University home.
