Start Your Oglethorpe Experience Now!
There’s a lot to do before your life as an Oglethorpe student begins, so we’ve broken it up into three events:
Attendance is highly encouraged.
Attend a real OU class, talk with current students, learn how to pick a major, and much more. An overnight stay on campus the night before Admitted Students Day is optional. This event is open to all students who have been admitted, but a deposit is not required and attendance does not commit you to Oglethorpe.
Making a Petrel (MAP) Days
Mandatory for all students who can feasibly make it to campus. A remote event will be available for international students or others with extenuating circumstances.
Discuss your schedule with your Compass Advisor, see your on-campus Residence Hall, get connected with current students and faculty, and learn the ins-and-outs of Oglethorpe! MAP Days are required and are reserved for students who have made a deposit. Students with extenuating circumstances who are unable to attend will participate in an online MAP day.
Mandatory for everyone!
Scheduled to coincide with residence hall move-in, Welcome Weekend is packed with opportunities to meet great people, get acquainted with the campus and community and learn about the many services and programs that will help you succeed as a Petrel.
Mandatory for everyone starting classes in the spring!
You will always have support at Oglethorpe. Spring Orientation may seem short, but it is packed with opportunities to meet great people, get acquainted with the campus and community and learn about the many services and programs that will help you succeed as a Petrel.
