Welcome to Oglethorpe!  While the transfer experience has some similar qualities to the first year experience, we understand that you are not coming in as a first year and have some unique questions, specific to the transfer experience. This page should help clarify some of those questions.

Housing – As a transfer student you will be placed into on-campus housing based on your number of credit hours (credit hours are how you are classified as a freshman, sophomore, or junior). As such, you would be placed in a freshman hall if you classify as a freshman and and in an upperclassman dorm if you are a sophomore, junior, or senior.  Usually, transfer students who have completed at least a year at another institution, will be placed in an upperclassmen residence hall (however this can vary). You can apply for on-campus housing using our Housing ApplicationFor more information please visit the Oglethorpe Residence Life homepage or contact the Residence Life Office at residencelife@oglethorpe.edu or (404) 364-8520.

Transfer Orientation

Transfer students are required to participate in New Student Orientation at the start of the term and encouraged to participate in OU Passport during the summer.

The Intro to Oglethorpe Seminar or  OGL course is a 1 credit class exclusively for transfer students. The OGL class is a group-oriented seminar style course facilitated by upper-class peer mentors working with faculty and staff members, and expressly focused on topics of interest and concern for transfer students. This seminar is designed to help students successfully integrate into the Oglethorpe University community. Seminar activities will familiarize the students with resources available to them including academic, financial, recreational, IT, library and student success. The seminar may also address personal goal setting, career exploration and decision making, and leadership opportunities. See this years OGL topics!
