Welcome, new students! Before the semester begins, you must attend a registration program called OU Passport. This is your opportunity to meet with an advisor and register for your semester class schedule. You will also learn more about the academic experience at Oglethorpe. Parents and guardians are invited to attend, and separate sessions will be offered for guests. Use this page to get ready for Passport: RSVP, explore class listings, find out about placement tests, make a hotel reservation, set up your OU email account, and more.

Information for Summer 2016 Passport sessions will be available soon!

Things to Do

All entering students should complete the following items as soon as possible, or by your OU Passport date.

Placement Tests

Language Placement
ALL entering students should take a language placement test. If you have ever studied French, German, Japanese, or Spanish, then you must take the language placement test, which is web-based and available to you any time, anywhere. (Oglethorpe will offer Elementary Latin in academic year 2014-15, but there is not a required placement test at this time.) If you do not complete the appropriate placement test(s), you will be more limited in registering for foreign language coursework.

Math Placement
SOME new students must also take a math placement test. If your intended major is in business, economics, accounting, science, or math, then you must take the math placement test. You may take the test up to two times, and we offer proctoring options either online through ProctorU or in person on campus during Passport. If you do not complete the Accuplacer placement test and your intended major requires it, you will be prevented from registering for certain courses.

Petrel Pass Photo

All Oglethorpe students receive a “Petrel Pass,” your official student ID card which serves many functions on campus. All students are urged to submit a photo in advance of attending Passport this summer. You must submit your photo at least one week before your chosen Passport date if you wish for your card to be prepared and available for pick-up at Passport. If you are unable to submit a photo in advance, you may have an ID photo taken during OU Passport.

Petrel Pass photo requirements:

  • Taken in full-face view, directly facing the camera
  • Taken by another person (no selfies)
  • Taken within the last three months
  • Taken in front of a white or off-white background
  • Taken without sunglasses, hats, or other large accessories

Course Registration

At OU Passport you will also register for your semester classes. By the end of the program, you will have an official course enrollment which you can view or print any time by logging in to  OASIS.

Academic Advising

Each student’s schedule will include a small-group meeting with a trained advisor in your area of academic interest. You will be able to discuss your academic plans and goals, consider courses options, and learn more about Oglethorpe’s programs of study. During your first semester at OU, you will learn more about declaring your major and meeting with your academic advisor.

Browse Course Listing

Enrolling students must set up their Oglethorpe account and password in order to log in to OASIS, which is Oglethorpe’s online database portal. Guest users may view the current course schedule by visiting the OASIS home page, clicking “OASIS Guests” in the gold box, clicking “Search for Sections,” and selecting the desired term.

Remember that you must complete both math and language placement before your academic advising appointment at OU Passport.

Auditions and Ensembles

New students interested in the University Singers may request an audition when registering for Passport. During the summer these auditions will be offered on the same day as Passport, with priority going to out-of-state students.

New Friends

OU Passport is a busy day, but it’s a great time to meet other Stormy Petrels! Approximately 90-100 students will attend each summer program date, so you will be able to hang out with many of the students whom you will see again in the fall. If you are enrolling in the spring semester, you’ll have the opportunity to connect with others also beginning mid-year.

Parent Sessions

Parents and guests who attend are invited to learn more about OU during special sessions with academic affairs, representatives from various campus offices and more. Individual opportunities will be available for talking with financial aid and business office professionals.

Paying Your Bill
Students enrolling in the fall semester will receive a copy of your fall bill during the month of May. All students and families are expected to review the bill and begin to arrange payment prior to OU Passport. Online payment is available for all students. A tuition installment plan is also available by arrangement with Enrollment Services or online through TMS. Please call 404.364.8302 to speak with a student accounts specialist about your options. More details will be forthcoming from the business office, including a copy of your statement. Watch your OU email!

Next Steps for Enrollment
